  • Crick Web
    I love this website. The interactive programs it offers range from Kindergarten through twelfth grade. It even has a section for lessons specific to the Promethean Board. I have used it with kindergarten and third graders teaching content skills and technology skills. I hope you will find it useful in your classroom. If you would like to see a model lesson or would like to team teach a lesson, I would love to come and help!!

    This site is one of the best I have seen as far as having a wide range of resources. It has everything from powerpoint games, to unit lessons, and even tutorials. I will add this to the COLT web site.

  • "Bitesized" Grammar and Spelling Games from BBC Schools
    For upper elementary, try these "Bitesized" games to boost spelling and grammar knowledge.
  • Aesop's Fables
    Traditional and modern fables Illustrated and retold by art students at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
  • BBC Schools Words and Pictures
    Know your basic letters and sounds, now what? Well it's off to words and further phonics areas such as Vowel Phonemes and Consonant Clusters. Here you can find great online interactive games and activities for each of these areas along with printable activities for further reinforcement. How many of the High Frequency Words do your students already know? There is also a Gallery section with student submitted writings and suggestions for getting your students' work posted. Maybe your students will enjoy this site so much that they will even access it from home.
  • Bembo's Zoo
    Bembo's Zoo takes the letters of the alphabet and they magically become animals. It is neat and could be incorporated into the letter of week, review, etc.
  • Book Adventure
    Book Adventure is a FREE reading motivation program for children in grades K-8. Children create their own book lists from over 6,000 recommended titles, take multiple choice quizzes on the books they've read offline, and earn points and prizes for their literary successes. K-8

    This site provides an on-line streaming video program featuring Screen Actors Guild members reading children's books aloud.
  • Google Literature Trips
    This site uses Google Earth files to guide students through a few of their favorite literature selections. This would be a great whole group activity as you read with students.

    "An interactive website where reading, writing and drawing intersects with math and music. Inkless Tales is about showing kids if you try, you probably can. This "Imagination Engine" is all about sparking your creativity through playing, learning, reading and writing!" This site has a great poetry section where students can submit work. It is really neat if you can get past the music on the homepage :)

  • Read, Write, Think
    Here students can create acrostic poems, fractured fairy tales, create postcards, create words using beginning and ending sounds, and even create their own books. If you don’t think your students are ready to try these on their own, make it an interactive whole group lesson!   • Sight Word Buddy
    Having taught in the upper elementary grades I often take for granted the fact that (most of) my students came to my class already knowing sight words. I can only imagine the patience and practice it must take to teach a child words like it, is, and the. After all, there are no pictures to aid in teaching these words, yet try finding a book that doesn't use them! If you would like to download a free game that uses sight words for Pre-Primer, Primer, First Grade, Second Grade and Third Grade then this weeks tech tip is for you!

    Interactive practice and estimation games sorted by grade level and math topic.
  • Abbott and Costello Math Problem
    Abbott and Costello are trying to figure out a math problem. This is probably best used in upper elementary classrooms, but if you are in a primary classroom and there is a video you would like me to turn in to a lesson, let me know. I am happy to create for you! The quality of the video is not the best, but the lesson it teaches is GREAT!

  • Math Educational Java Programs
    This site has interactive Java programs ranging from time, money, base ten blocks and even Cuisenaire Rods. These would be great to use as a whole group activity or a center activity. Some of the programs give students immediate feedback.

    Math Glossary provides illustrated and animated definitions and explanations for math terms to help students with homework.
  • NCTM Interactive Resources
    This is a great site for interactive math resources. Pay special attention to the interactive hundreds chart, is can easily be adapted for any grade level!!
  • Place Value Flipchart
    This flip chart helps teach place value and is geared toward older grades.
  • Studio 4 Learning
    This site contains online videos on topics ranging from basic math operations to finding a job. Though this is geared more toward 3, 4, and 5th grade, this could be used with any grade level. These videos are free and can be embedded into other web sites!
  • Twelve Days of Christmas
    The Twelve Days of Christmas asks children to calculate how much money it would take to buy all of the items to make their true love happy this Christmas.
  • Visual Fractions
    Interactive practice to help students visualize fractions.
  • Wicked
    Interactive flash and shockwave games to practice basic math facts. Also provides fraction practice.

    BBC Science Clips- I used this often in my room to reinforce concepts. This allows for students to experiment without having to set it up in the classroom.
